Antonio Sánchez is a virtuosic jazz drummer who launched his professional career as a musician in his teenage years. Hailing from Mexico City, he studied at the National Conservatory in the early 1990s before relocating to Boston and attending the prestigious Berklee College of Music. After touring and recording with renowned guitarist Pat Metheny in various formations, he finally released his first album Migration on Cam Jazz in 2007. With an all-star list of contributors on the record and Sanchez's technical and emotive style as leader, the record was lauded by critics as one of the best debuts of the year. He's since continued to play as a sideman to Metheny while pushing forward with his own music through releases like 2015's Three Times Three.
