Bloodstock is an annual independent festival that focuses on heavy metal music. It brings together internationally renowned bands of many genres, not shunning the more "extreme" corners of the scene. About 15,000 fans attend. The festival's fiery mascot is the "Derby Ram," which, as the local legend says, was so huge that the butcher who killed it got drowned in its blood.
