Hailing from Scotland, Deacon Blue is an alternative pop/rock group that formed in 1985. The band released its debut album Raintown, an ode to its hometown of Glasgow, in 1987 followed by its most commercially successful release, 1988's When the World Knows Your Name. When Deacon Blue's popularity began to wane in the early 1990s, the band decided to call it quits in 1994 shortly after releasing a greatest hits album. After surprising fans in 1999 with an unexpected reunion concert, the band sparked enough creative energy inside itself to record a new album, titled Walking Back Home. Even after the death of founding member Graeme Kelling in 2004, Deacon Blue continues to record and release music.
