Richard Hawley is a guitarist from the UK who rose to fame as a member of the Britpop band Longpigs in 1990s. After the band dissolved in 1997, he was invited to join the alternative rock outfit Pulp by frontman Jarvis Crocker, and he joined the band on a world tour before entering the studio on his own to record his first solo effort. His eponymous mini album was released in 2000 and inspired Hawley, who had recently been thinking of quitting music, to continue as a solo artist. he released arguably his most acclaimed record Lowedges, in 2003 and continues to release his own material and work as both a session and live guitarist for artists such as Lisa Marie Presley and The Feral Cats.
