Igor & Red Elvises, also known simply as Red Elvises, is a rockabilly surf rock band that got it start playing on Santa Monica's 3rd Street Promenade. Formed by Russian-born musicians Igor Yuzov and Oleg Bernov, who met during a Russian-American peace walk, the band formed in 1995 with the addition of guitarist Zhenya Kolykhanov and drummer Avi Sills. Igor & Red Elvises released its debut album Grooving To The Moscow Beat, in 1996 but found its breakthrough two years later with its 1998 album, I Wanna See You Bellydance. The band became a trio in 2001, after Bernov gave up the bass in favor of the drums, making the band an all-Russian group and prompting its 2002 album Rokenrol, an effort recorded almost entirely in Russian. Red Elvises officially became known as Igor & Red Elvises after Bernov left the band to join the circus and Yuzov assembled a new lineup. The band continues to tour extensively and release new material, including its 2009 record, Drinking with Jesus.
