Ty Segall is a garage rock singer/songwriter from San Francisco who began his career in music as a part-time musician for several different bands around the Orange County and San Francisco areas. He branched out on his own in 2008 with the release of his first song "Horn the Unicorn," which he recorded on a cassette tape. He would soon release his self-titled debut album, sparking a series of several more records that music critics have hailed for mapping the evolutionary progress of his craft as a songwriter and a performer. From his effortless 2011 album Goodbye Bread, to his 2012 psychedelic and space rock-inspired Twins, his solo endeavors have resonated with critics and fans more so than any of his bands, leading many to proclaim Segall one of the premier garage rock acts to emerge out of San Francisco in some time.
