Itzhak Perlman In Recital
The Palladium at the Center for the Performing Arts
Born in Tel Aviv, Itzhak Perlman became interested in the violin and classical music at a very young age. In an effort to continue cultivating his talents, he eventually moved to New York City to attend the Juilliard School, where he immediately stood out amongst his peers due to his innate understanding of various styles and techniques. Perlman's career began to bloom throughout the 1970s with performances on The Tonight Show, Sesame Street and various PBS specials. By the 1990s, however, he was widely-considered to be one of the premier solo violinists in the country. Just a couple of highlights on his impressive resume include a performance on John William's Academy Award-winning score for Schindler's List, regular collaborations with classical icon Yo-Yo Ma and repeat offers to play at White House functions. While most notably a classical performer, Perlman has also dabbled in jazz music--the result of which can be heard in a collaboration with pianist, Oscar Peterson.
