Stade de Reims, is a French football club from the city of Reims. It was founded in June 1931, and its nickname is "Les Rouges et Blancs" (The Reds and Whites), in reference to their jersey colors. The team started in second division, but in 1938 the club merged with its rival, Sporting Club Rémois, and made its first division debut. In 1950, the Stade de Reims, became the most successful football club in France. In 1953, the club won the Latin Cup, and between 1949 and 1962 it won six French Championship titles. Additionally, the team won the Coupe de France in 1950 and 1958, the Charles Drago Cup in 1954, and four Champion Challenge titles between 1955 and 1966. In 1963 the club was relegated to the second division, which resulted in financial trouble for the club, leading to bankruptcy in 1991. In 2012, Reims returned to Ligue 1, 33 years after its last season at the highest national level. The Club had had several notable players, including Raymond Kopa, Carlos Bianchi, Just Fontaine, and Roger Marche. Its official anthem is "Allez Reims."
