Vegetarians need not apply at PEI Burger Love, when eateries across the island proudly offer advertise their burgers made with 100% island beef. First started in 2008, PEI Burger Love raises awareness of the quality local beef and creativity of the local chefs. Participants can go online and vote for their favorite burger creation - there's an enormous variety to choose from - and each loaded with a vast number of eclectic ingredients. Discover such originals as the Ranch Hand, which is a "6 oz. Island Beef Patty, Moonshine BBQ Sauce, Jalapeno Gouda, Chipotle Garlic Mayo, Onion Jam, Smoky Country Ham, Maple-Candied Pancetta Bacon, Chow-Chow, Peppery Arugula on a toasted Sesame Bun topped with a Deep Fried Pickle," or The Outlaw: "8 oz. Island Beef Patty, house-made Smoky BBQ Glaze, Arugula, house-made Poppy Seed Mayo, Hothouse Tomato, Dill Pickle, Mozzarella, Cheddar, Onion Rings, Maple-Glazed Bacon, house-made BBQ Ranch Sauce on a toasted Potato Onion Bun topped with a Bacon-Wrapped Jalapeño Popper, Cherry Tomato and Dill Pickle." Many of the participating restaurants also donate a portion of the proceeds to the United Way of PEI.
