La Cantatrice Chauve is the first play written by the French playwright Eugène Ionesco. It is an absurdist drama in which the plot circles around two families, the Smiths and the Martins, who dive into a serious of meaningless conversations which don't seem to ever have a solid conclusion. The closing scene coincides with its opening scene, hence making the play seem like an endless loop. It is known to be one of the longest-running plays in France.
