Barbara Dickson is a Scottish singer/songwriter and musician who is best-known for her hits from the late 1970s. After getting her start playing folk music and releasing albums, such as her 1970 debut Do Right Woman, she met student and playwright Willy Russell, who asked her to do the music for his musical, John, Paul, George, Ringo... and Bert. The show debuted in 1974 and earned immediate critical acclaim, launching Dickson's career and earning her a record deal with RSO Records. She released her album, Answer Me, in 1976, and saw her first mainstream hit with the title track, which led to a guest residency on BBC's television program The Two Ronnies. With her music exposed to a national audience, she continued to drop successful albums throughout the 1980s and turned to acting during the 1990s. Dickson continues to release new music, including her 24th studio album, Time and Tide, in 2008.
