When Jona Bechtolt was a youngster, music made more sense to him than academics. Instead of attending high school, Bechtolt opted to tour the U.S. with his older brother's punk band Allegro. After Bechtolt started working with electronics in the late '90s he was immersed in the infinite possibilities that electronic music could warrant. Producing music for a period of time by himself, Bechtolt decided he needed a female voice in many of his songs and he decided to include vocalist Claire L. Evans into his experimental electropop project called YACHT. This collaboration between Bechtolt and Evans created memorable tracks that combine intense, almost mathematical, electronic compositions with organic vocal melodies.
