Dog Day is a Canadian indie rock band consisting of husband and wife duo Seth Smith and Nancy Urich. The band formed in 2004 in Halifax and was originally conceived as a four-piece. After a debut EP release in 2005, however, Smith and Urich pared the band down, agreeing they could fully convey their lo-fi indie rock songs on their own. Dog Day's sound is one of short bursts of poppy songs bathed in just enough distortion and noise to keep things interesting. Vocal interplay and harmony between the couple is prevalent throughout, and even if the musicianship isn't necessarily anything to write home about, Dog Day's songs are catchy little diversions that should satisfy a craving for artsy indie pop.
