Between the end of July and the middle of August every year over 1.5 million visitors flock to the banks of Lake Maschsee for a host of festivities. As well as live bands (rock & pop, soul, blues, swing, disco and jazz), there are cabaret acts, theater groups and children's shows on Wednesdays, Fridays and Saturdays. Beer gardens, cocktail bars and an array of different snack bars provide a selection of refreshments. On Wednesday evenings the lake is lit up by dozens of illuminated boats ranging in size from tiny paddleboats to an enormous ocean liner.
