Iron and Wine is the stage and recording name of American singer/songwriter Samuel Beam. The music Beam creates is often labeled as folk rock and has been compared to music by Nick Drake, Elliot Smith and John Fahey. Though Beam has been releasing music since 2002, with his version of the Postal Service song "Such Great Heights" being featured on an M&M commercial and multiple movie soundtracks, it wasn't until 2007's The Shepherd's Dog that he achieved mainstream critical and commercial success.
