Martin Stephenson and the Daintees is a rock band that emerged out of Sunderland, England in 1982. Founded and fronted by singer/songwriter and musician Martin Stephenson, the band first captured its fusion of rockabilly, show tunes and straightforward punk on its debut album Boat to Bolivia, in 1986. With a bright, spirited style that stood out in juxtaposition to the often angsty style of its local music scene, the band collected a dedicated following, but eventually split up in the early 1990s. The Daintees reunited in 2000 and has since continued to release new material, including 2012's California Star.
