Jürgen von der Lippe is an entertainer who rose to fame with his odd mannerisms and self-deprecating humor. Originally born Hans-Jürgen Dohrenklamp in the district of Lippe in North Rhine-Westphalia, Germany, he trained as a signaller in the armed forces before forming the music act Gebrüder Blattschuss in 1976 with Hans Werner Olm. The project was short-lived and dissolved in 1979, but Lippe soon find his niche in television. Shortly after releasing his most renowned accomplishment as a solo recording artist, the 1987 album Guten Morgen, liebe Sorgen, he found success on television as the host of the reality dating show Geld oder Liebe, which ran for a total of 12 years before coming to an end in 2001. Though Lippe has released well over a dozen albums, his most prominent talent lies in his ability to make people laugh with the variety of characters that reappear throughout his monologues and songs.
