Brooklyn Rider is a contemporary chamber music string quartet. The group comprises Nicholas Cords, Johnny Gandelsman, Colin Jacobsen and Michael Nicolas, a violist, two violinists and a cellist respectively. As the name suggests, the outfit is based in Brooklyn, NY. Brooklyn Rider has worked closely with artists like Kayhan Kalhor, Philip Glass and Béla Fleck. The band has successfully delivered numerous albums. Its 2008 debut album Passport, Silent City, A Walking Fire and Spontaneous Symbols are only a few examples.
