Hull Trawling: When Men Were Men & Women Changed The World
Martin Woodford's one-man show visits the heroic actions of women from the Hull fishing community. Using songs, video interviews and the words of the people involved, Martin tells the story of how action by the Hull women changed the laws around fishing more in two weeks than governments had managed in 100 years.
The show features video interviews with Mike Waterson, the legendary Hull singer-songwriter and member of the Watersons, supplied by Doc Rowe from the National Folk Archive. Martin performs songs by Mike Waterson, Richard Grainger and Linda Kelly.
Martin is a regular at TwickFolk and a powerful performer of traditional songs. We are delighted he is bringing his unique and thought-provoking show to the Cabbage Patch.
