Johnny Osbourne is a reggae and dancehall singer from Jamaica who rose to prominence in the 1980s with a string of well received albums. Beginning his career in 1967 as lead singer of The Wildcats, Osbourne would achieve regional fame with the band, but after feeling the artistic trappings of group confines, he would leave The Wildcats to launch a solo career. Thrown onto the international reggae scene with his critically lauded 1980 studio album, Truth and Rights, Osbourne has since enjoyed a successful career--growing into an elder statesman of music over his decades long career.
