Kiwi singer-songwriter Nadia Reid-O'Reilly, better-known as Nadia Reid, has been lauded for her unique vocals and well-crafted lyricism since she arrived on the scene in 2015. Born in Devenport, Reid picked up the guitar at 14 and was a part of her school choir, which won the New Zealand Choral Federation Millenium Trophy in 2009. She moved to Christchurch after moving out of her parents' house and worked odd jobs to support herself while performing original songs at the city's favorite haunts. Along the way, she self-released several EPs and took her live performances all over the country. Encouraged by the response her music received, she began working on her first full-length album. Unsupported by a record label, she set up a funding campaign for herself, which enabled her to release her debut album, Listen to Formation, Look for the Signs. She was signed-on by Spunk Records, which re-released the album under its label in Australia and New Zealand. It was lauded by critics for its contemplative lyrics on subjects like love and rejection, and in 2016, Reid was nominated for several storied awards. The album was then picked up by other record labels and officially released in the US, UK and rest of Europe. Despite her debut album being so warmly-received by everyone, it was her sophomore effort, the acclaimed Preservation, that really put her on the map. The multi-award-winning singer's most popular hits include "Heart to Ride," "Call the Days," "The Future," "The Arrow and the Aim," "Richard" and "Oh Canada."
