The Sea is an indie rock band from Hamburg, Germany. In the early 2000s, the band struggled to break into the music scene until Conor Oberst invited the band to open for Bright Eyes in 2005. Following a series of singles, demos and live shows, The Sea released its self-titled debut album in 2008. The album reflects the band's quiet and understated charm, particularly though lead singer Christian Naujoks' smooth and melancholy voice. At the end of 2011, The Sea took to its website to announce that the band would be on standby until further notice.
