A unique Dvořák feast. On the one hand there is the relatively rarely heard piano concerto, on the other the popular Ninth, the symphony "from the New World". Although the piano concerto outwardly adheres to the classical structure of three movements, it defied the prevailing zeitgeist of the time. The piano does not play a dominant, highly virtuosic role, full of technical flourishes, but is involved in the development of the themes as an equal partner to the orchestra. A truly symphonic concerto. Dvořák wrote his Ninth in faraway New York, far from his homeland. Was it homesickness that influenced his composition? His commission was actually to write a symphonic work based on American folk music-like melodies. However, Bohemian-Moravian sounds increasingly came to the fore, so it is not surprising that the work ultimately became a magnificent musical hymn to Dvořák's Czech homeland.A unique Dvořák festival that brings together Dvořák's Piano Concerto and the "Symphony from the New World", a little-known work and one that is extremely popular worldwide.Luzerner SinfonieorchesterConductor: Michael SanderlingPiano: Lukáš VondráčekComposers & WorksAntonín Dvořák (1841 - 1904)Concerto for Piano and Orchestra in G minor op. 33Symphony No. 9 in E minor op. 95 "From the New World"Night concertJesuitenkriche Lucerne | approx. 10 p.m. (included in the ticket price, please take your ticket with you)Choir: Prague Philharmonic ChoirConductor: Lukáš Vasilek Antonín DvořákIn the realm of natureBohuslav Martinů (1890 - 1959)Four songs about the Virgin MaryPetr Eben (1929 - 2007)Cantico delle CreaturePlease note: The program and the artists performing are subject to change.
