The majority of musicians who perform songs that fall into the Portuguese folk genre called "fado" rarely achieve crossover success. Portuguese chanteuse Ana Moura has been able to break this norm, however, and become a fairly recognizable figure on the international world music scene. Releasing her debut album in 2003, Moura became a localized sensation in her home country, eventually performing throughout Europe and the United States to spread her musical gospel. Known as one of the premier voices of Portugal, Moura even joined the Rolling Stones on stage to duet with Mick Jagger on "No Expectations" when the band stopped through Lisbon in 2007.
