During the outlaw-country movement in the 1970s few artists were as respected as Willie Nelson. His renegade aura as well as his reputation as somewhat of a drifter helped bolster his notoriety and cement his place in country music. Though many of his peers in the 1970s have faded into pop culture oblivion, Nelson has managed to stay relevant--constantly reinventing himself and his sound with dabbles into various forms of music including reggae, blues, jazz and lounge.
