Australian rock band Boom Crash Opera was formed in 1985 by Peter Farnan, Peter Maslen, Greg O'Connor, Richard Pleasance and Dale Ryder. The band 1986 debut single "Great Wall" was a commercial success in Australia. Boom Crash Opera's eponymous album was released the following year and was certified gold. Pleasance exited the group in 1990 following a tinnitus diagnosis and was replaced by bassist Ian Tilley. Following O'Connor's exit, the band continued to perform and released The Best Things - Greatest Hits - a compilation of its albums Born and Gizmo Mantra. Dale Ryder resigned from the band in 2016 and was replaced by R&B and rock singer Andrew De Silva. Over the years, the group has been nominated for numerous awards such as the ARIA Award for Best New Talent, the ARIA Award for Best Cover Art and the ARIA Award for Best Group among others.
