Country-folk singer/songwriter Lissie was born and raised on the banks of the Mississippi River in Illinois. Instilled with a love for American music by her grandfather, a champion barbershop quartet singer, Lissie began singing at an early age. A self-proclaimed rebel, the midwest songstress was eventually kicked out of high school, after which she moved to Los Angeles and played music at various bars and coffee shops. Forming ties with indie folk bands who were rapidly on the rise to success, Lissie eventually secured a record deal with Fat Possum and has since established a solid fan base both in the US and UK.
