Minnesota Orchestra is a symphony orchestra based in Minneapolis, Minnesota that gave its first performance under the leadership of its founder and famed American conductor Emil Oberhoffer in 1903. Sadly underrated throughout its rather illustrious performing history, some of the best recordings of the classical music repertoire were made my the Minnesota Orchestra, particularly under the leadership of the great conductor Dmitri Mitropoulos during the 1950s and Antal Dorati during the 1960s. Starting in 1980, the Minnesota Orchestra began it's annual summer festival program held at Orchestra Hall that presents music across several different genres, and is generally considered to be one of Minnesota's most popular summer festivals.
