Christian McBride is a fusion jazz bass player known for his adept skills on both the electric and upright variations of the instrument. He was trained by his father, Lee Smith, who was an active and popular bass player on the Philadelphia sscene in his day. McBride later studied at the prestigious Juilliard School in New York City and soon stood out amongst his peers thanks to his skillful and virtuosic skills. Since then, he's gone on to become one of the most actively commissioned recording bassists in modern music, recording sessions with the likes of Chick Corea, Joshua Redman, The Roots, James Brown and Sting. McBride's combination of classic smooth jazz and modern fusion takes on many forms in the live setting, including solo shows and performances with varying sets of accompanying instruments and musicians
