The instrumental post-rock band Caspian emerged out of Massachusetts in the early 2000s when several groups began to gainfully employ a lot of pedal effects and dreary, dream-like composition techniques. Caspian got its start in 2003 and stood out from the slew of post-rock acts with its instrumental, experimental post-metal leanings. Although the group didn't release its debut album The Four Trees, until 2007, the band spent the mid-2000s perfecting its intricate ambient sound. Caspian has since toured with other up-and-coming acts such as Fang Island, and released a series of studio albums including 2012's Waking Season.
