Anne-Sophie Mutter is a German-born violinist who has quickly, since her debut at the age of 13, risen to join the ranks of the world's most skilled and renowned virtuoso violinists. After showcasing her talents and taking home several prestigious awards as a child, Anne-Sophie Mutter was exempted from school in order to dedicate herself to the violin full-time. Several legendary conductors expressed great interest in performing with the child prodigy, including famed Berlin Philharmonic director Herbert von Karajan, past English Chamber Orchestra director Daniel Barenboim, with whom she made her European debut in 1977, and past New York Philharmonic director Zubin Mehta, with whom she made her American debut in 1980. Since then, Mutter has continued to impress and win over audiences with her precision with the violin and interpretive mastery over the instrument's repertoire.
