The Birdland Big band is a 15-piece jazz orchestra that was founded by Tommy Igoe in 2006. With a weekly Friday night residency at New York City's Birdland Jazz Club, the ensemble offers a repertoire of original arrangements, contemporary compositions and select, rare and forgotten historical pieces. The band's "jazz forward" work is known to pack the club to full capacity, particularly during special performance when Igoe joins the band on stage. The Birdland Big Band has released a several recorded works, including 2007's The Anderson Tribute Concert (live), and 2009's Tommy Igo and the Birdland Big Band Live From New York.
