When Portland-based singer/songwriter, Ritchie Young, first started playing under the Loch Lomond guise in 2003, it was exclusively a solo endeavor. Writing dainty, chamber-folk songs with a distinct indie quality led many to laud Young's tunes as ornate compositions that were a keen representation of the Pacific Northwest city the song-smith called home. As time wore on, Young started to invite some backing musicians into the band to add some sonic depth to the baroque-friendly songs. Named after the largest lake in Great Britain, Loch Lomand's membership has nearly constantly been in flux. But with Young's pensive songwriting skills constantly being the focus of the group, the band has managed to maintain a high-level of respectability amongst music connoisseurs.
