Having spent most of his childhood in Cuba and the better half of his young adult life in Canada, Alex Puentes creates jazz and pop music with a bicultural spin. He began playing guitar at the age of six and after relocating to Canada, his sound began to shift from traditional acoustic Latin music to jazz fusion. Alex started working with his twin brother Adonis as The Puentes Brothers shortly after his move to British Columbia in 1999, and began a solo career in 2004. The same year he released his debut album Humo Del Tabaco, which featured collaborations with artists Ron Sexsmith and Corinne Bailey Rae. Continuing his his songwriting career, Alex collaborated and co-wrote several songs fellow Canadian artist Nelly Furtado. He released a critically acclaimed self-titled solo album in 2009.
