The beautiful spectacle of all the homes on the Campground decorated by colorful paper lanterns once drew so many visitors that it was nearly a disaster. But that's all been taken care of. Generally it is held on a Wednesday in mid-August. What began over 100 years ago as a means of celebrating a governor's visit has become a beloved event for islanders and visitors alike.
