Bad Religion is a modern American punk band credited with reviving the genre and influencing other bands with a sophisticated sound and elevated lyrics. The Los Angeles-based band released most of its records on guitarist's Brett Gurewitz's label, Epitaph Records. Bad Religion's first taste of commercial success came with its 1994 studio album Stranger Than Fiction, which it released with Atlantic Records. The mainstream attention caused Gurewitz to leave the band until 2002, when he appeared on the album The Process of Belief. Bad Religion went through several lineup changes, with lead singer Gred Graffin being the only continuous member since the band formed in 1979.
