Nick Cave and the Bad Seeds is a rock band composed of an assortment of talented international musicians and helmed by the enigmatic and startlingly talented stageman and chief singer/songwriter Nick Cave. Formed in 1984 after Cave's previous band--the Gothic-inspired, post-punk band The Birthday Party--broke up, the Bad Seeds distinguished itself with a theatrically-rich sound that helped set itself apart from the myriad of other contemporary acts out there. Continuing to build positive buzz for itself throughout the mid-to-late 1980s, the band started to breakout in the 1990s, with critically lauded albums like 1994's Let Love In and 1996's Murder Ballads. While Cave has managed to branch out into an impressive amount of artistic mediums--including screenwriting, literary fiction writing and film scoring--he has managed to maintained a respectably busy recording and touring schedule with the Bad Seeds. The group's 2013 LP, Push the Sky Away, was met with universal acclaim--helping turn a new generation of music fans on to Cave and Co.'s unique and unforgettable sound.
