Alexis Djoshkounian adopted the stage name Alexis HK with the release of his debut album Anti-heros Notoire, in 1997 with Hybrid Music. He followed this album with a series of shows between 1998 and 2002, during which he played with a band that included drummer and flute player Riou Marc and accordionist Gregory Marc from the band Trad'Ouir. With a sound emanating a playfully folky-pop sound, Alexis HK released three more albums before his 2009 effort, Les Affranchis, which he effortlessly pulled off with French lyrics and his cavalier voice.
