New Year's Day inspires many celebratory events across Philadelphia, PA, the most popular of which is the Mummers Parade. A years-old local tradition, it sees participation from people of all ages belonging to local clubs. Fancy costumes and elaborate routines are showcased as the parade moves through the city's main streets, making the parade a sight to behold. The parade is split into four divisions - the Comics and Wench Brigades who satirize people and institutions, the Fancies who don flamboyant outfits, the String Bands who showcase their talents with string instruments, and the Fancy Brigades who perform theatrical pieces.
