When the guys of Tokyo Police Club first started playing together in 2005 they were students at McGill University in Montreal, Canada. As the band started playing around the city, they started to attract a fairly respectable following. When the indie, garage rock outfit was asked to play the Pop Montreal festival, they thought they were going to be picked up by a record company and signed on the spot. But It was not to be, the band played the festival but didn't get a recording contract. The band preserved though and managed to land a record deal with more and more touring.
