Elliot Charles Adnopoz, who performs and releases music as Ramblin' Jack Elliott, is a folk singer/songwriter from New York City. Born and raised in Brooklyn, Elliott was inspired watching rodeos at Madison Square Garden as a child and initially wanted to become a cowboy. Running away from home at the age of 15, Elliott joined a rodeo for several months before his parents tracked him down and sent him home. Shortly thereafter, Elliott taught himself how to play guitar and started busking on the streets of New York City. After becoming somewhat of a protegee of Woody Guthrie, Elliott started to become a professional musician, eventually releasing his debut album, Jack Elliott Sings, in 1957.
