Traditional Food & Fun In addition to being an artistic community, Provincetown has always been the center of a very traditional Portuguese fishing community. The last weekend in June is reserved for a celebration of that community. There is a parade on Saturday and the Blessing of the Fleet takes place on Sunday. Throughout the weekend Portuguese foods, traditions and dance are celebrated. Some of the events are on Ryder Street, and several venues around town are also used. Many of the events are free.
