The Circle Jerks is an American hardcore punk band based out of Los Angeles. Formed in 1979 by Keith Morris and Greg Hetson, the band was one of the biggest names of the punk scene of the 1980s. It released its debut album Group Sex in 1980 and soon created a buzz because of its sometimes ludicrous, witty and coarse lyrics. The album was well-received by listeners and ultimately gained landmark status in hardcore music. The Circle Jerks has broken-up and regrouped multiple times since its initial disbanding right after the release of the album VI. The Circle Jerks has been an inspiration to other great artists including Anti-Flag, Dropkick Murphys, Flea, Pennywise and The Offspring.
