Lloyd Cole is a singer/songwriter and musician from England who is known both for his time as the lead singer of Lloyd Cole and the Commotions and for his work as a solo artist. After forming The Commotions in 1982, Cole released three critically and commercially acclaimed albums with the band before it disbanded in 1989 when he relocated to New York. Starting with his eponymous debut album in 1990, Cole demonstrated a different side to his multi-faceted sound with each subsequent release--he used a session orchestra for his 1991 sophomore album Don't Get Weird on Me Babe, offered a harder rock sound on 1993's Bad Vibes, and then opted for an acoustic soundscape for his 1995 record, Love Story. Cole went on to color his next string of albums with elements of folk, electronica, pop and indie rock, and would eventually release his fourteenth studio album Broken Record with a group of long-time friends who call themselves Lloyd Cole Small Ensemble.
