Gioachino Rossini was an Italian composer who wrote the music to some of the most well known operas including The Barber of Seville and The Italian Girl in Algiers. Apart from his opera works, Rossini would compose chamber music as well as religious music and stand alone piano pieces. With a tendency to use a symphonic, orchestrated builtup layered over a repeated phrase, the musical style would go on to be termed a "Rossini crescendo."
