It's not uncommon to hear about how important improvisation is in a band's live performances. In The Floozies' case, however, entire sets can go from start-to-finish without a single pre-rehearsed idea coming into play. The group's impressively ingrained sense of musical interplay makes a bit more sense when you realize that it's the work of two brothers, Matt and Mark Hill. The experimental duo uses live drumming, electronic production and sound manipulation to create wildly unpredictable sound collages that bounce around from funk and disco, to dub and afrobeat. As the brothers have matured, they've started to embrace the benefits of putting together a rehearsed, well thought-out studio album--a technique that has won them numbers of new fans. Still, it's during live performances that The Floozies' knack for adventurous improv and sonic experimentation really shine though.
