A small town , Grand Lake lies at 2551 meters (8369 feet) above sea level. Named after the lake it is home to, Grand Lake was initially a supply point to numerous mining settlements based in the neighboring cities. Now one of the gateways to the Rocky Mountain National Park, the town has gained considerable tourist value. With a small population of 447 and its subalpine climate, the town makes for a perfect escape from urban life.
