With a history that goes back to more than a millennia, Göttingen is located at the heart of Germany. Famous for the 18th-century Georg-August-Universität Göttingen, this university city is much more than being the base of Lower Saxony's oldest university. Göttingen Nacht der Kultur, Göttinger Literaturherbst and Göttingen International Handel Festival are a few of its main festivals.
