Altes Rathaus Göttingen is a quintessential town hall that was the official seat of the city's council. The building took much time for completion and was finally completed in 1978 with auburn roofs and quaint facades, making it a pretty picture. It is located centrally in the square of the city and is today a major venue for all local events. Many concerts, ceremonies, exhibitions and other social events are held here. You can check out the council chamber, grab a bite at the restaurant in the basement or educate yourself about the city at the Tourist Information office.
