Helmstedt

Cradled in the Lappwald Hills, the town of Helmstedt is blessed by some of the best natural surroundings paired with well-preserved architecture. Established around the 13th Century, Helmstedt was home to its namesake university from 16th to 19th Century. The remarkable orange hued landmark Juleum Novum, the erstwhile university building, is one of the most striking attractions. The salmon colored Hausmann Tower and the intricately carved facade of Mayor's Office Building are also defining landmarks of Helmstedt.
